Why Open Source?

I developed this site with 100% open source resources. This gave to me and to all Provisum-Illumina users the opportunity to enjoy a set of features developed in conjuction with the community. Years would have been necessary for a single person to code all this. But it was only matter of few months of contributions, hard work and fun for a non-programmer (me) to set up a structure that otherwise would have resulted outrageously expensive. The real cost was time, learning, contributions, and money only where I decided to donate to those developers who coded something for the community and I found it useful for my needs or for the cause they were involved.
As I wanted this site to be unique, I'm in the contious process of coding new custom features. And those parts of code that are eligible to be distributed are freely downloadable from here. Following the same philosophy that broght me at this stage.

You, as a user, reader, contributor or coder can test and use this custom code (mainly php and JS). And when you found it interesting and useful you have the chance to donate an amount of money to sustain this hard work and the medical aid program in Africa by Emergency, with whom I'm collaborating.
